Sporting Group International has secured the services of Adrian Wright, former sales and marketing director of West Bromwich Albion Football Club. The move represents another coup for the sports HR and marketing specialists who are building a formidable team.
Wright, also the president of the Black Country Chamber of Commerce, has been appointed as chief executive and joins Iain Wain, chief commercial officer, formerly of West Bromwich Albion and Gloucestershire County Cricket Club, and Mark Dixon, sponsorship manager, formerly of Manchester United. SGI is showing a clear commitment to changing the face of the services offered to sports brands and clubs across the globe.
SGI operates primarily in the recruitment, advertising and sponsorship sectors of the sporting world and Wright is looking to take the business global. “I thoroughly enjoyed my six years at West Brom but I felt the time was right to join a high-impact project like SGI” Wright commented. “The board here has a wealth of experience and we’re looking forward to working with more brands in the UK and in India and China” he added.
It’s certainly no understatement seeing as the management Team name Carlsberg, Molson Coors, Nivea, Quickbooks, Zoopla and travel giants Thomas Cook amongst many major brand acquisitions in their combined 25 years’ worth of experience. SGI believe they’re offering a truly unique specialist service to the industry, which has been long crying out for a better standard of professional service.
