Vacancy - IT Support Engineer

Surrey County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs in England. It represents the historic county of Surrey and also South London. The club are looking for an IT Support Engineer to join their team based at The Kia Oval, Surrey. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years experience in a similar role and will be a hard working, focused individual.


Job Description

Main duties: 

Desktop support - Support and advise all staff on the use of IT based systems and equipment, including Windows PCs and Apple Mac OSX 

Support various business critical applications 

VMWare 6.5 virtual environment 

Windows 2008/2012 based servers 

Sonicwall Firewall & VPN device 

Cisco Meraki network switches, associated patch cabling and fibre. 

Mitel IP telephone system 

Tripleplay IPTV system 

Datto backup system 

Office 365 and Sharepoint 

Setup and Administration of users on Windows 2008/2012 Active Directory and Office 365 

Liaise with external providers for third-line support such as Sonicwall, Mitel IP telephone system, Sky/The Cloud, Mimecast, TriplePlay, and Datto 

Maintain the internal TCP/IP network 

Manage the security and Antivirus protection 

Set up, issue and maintain company mobile phones (currently iPhone) 

Maintain and develop IT documentation and policies 

Carry out other duties and responsibilities of a similar nature to those described above, in keeping with the developments in IT systems. 

Variations of Role Relating to Major Matches: 

On major match days the IT department provide support to media and photographers. 

This involves provision of the wireless network to members, media and staff, support for the IPTV system, basic troubleshooting of the till system, hardwiring internet for 
photographers and providing desktop support for the media and helping with the provision of live streaming of matches. 

The Person 

The successful candidate will have the following skills / qualities: 


At least three years of experience working in a similar role 

Excellent communication skills to a variety of customer groups 

Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve IT issues of a complex nature 

Ability to work under pressure 

Ability to prioritise workload well and show proactivity 

Installing, configuring and maintenance of MS Windows Server 2008/2012 

VMWare virtual environment 

Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Certificate services 

Microsoft Office 365 and Sharepoint 

MS Windows 7, 10, Apple Mac OSX 


Team player 

Engaging and focused 

Customer Orientated 

Ability to work alone 


Recognised IT qualification 

Worked in a similar sporting or events-driven environment 


Sonicwall Firewall administration 

Mitel IP phone system administration 


SQL database maintenance 

Image Creation and Deployment 


Knowledge of Audio Visual (AV) systems
