Sporting Group International India (SGII) are delighted to announce it has added another Indian footballer to its ever-growing roster.
ATK midfielder Darren Caldeira joins the UK and India based player agency who also boast his team-mate Jayesh Rane amongst their stable.
The Mumbai-born midfielder began his career at Mahindra United before enjoying spells at Air India, Mumbai FC, JSW Bengaluru FC and Chennai City .
The 30 year old made the move to the ISL with ATK at the start of the most recent campaign.
Caldeira, who was delighted to be joining the SGI family, said, “I am extremely happy to sign with Sporting Group International. I have spoken to many people within the game and they come very highly recommended.
“I have aspirations to win honours in the game and to be a success. I look forward to working with SGI who will support me in achieving this aim.”
SGI India General Manager Pranay Kapuria added, “We are delighted to have Darren on board, he is a top pro and we will help him to find his next destination in Indian Football”.
NEW DELHI, INDIA – 19 January 2018 – Sporting Group International (SGI) are delighted to announce Pranay Kapuria as its new General Manager for their New Delhi operation.
Pranay, who hails from Mumbai, recently completed his Masters in International Business Studies at University of Wolverhampton in England, receiving a Distinction.
Whilst in the UK, Pranay combined his studies with a role at Sporting Group International as their Research and Social Media Executive. After impressing during this period, Pranay was offered the role of General Manager at Sporting Group International India in New Delhi, a position he assumed earlier this week.
Pranay will be managing the SGI’s player management programme of its footballers who ply their trade in the Indian Super League which includes Bengalaru’s Rahul Bheke and ATK’s Jayesh Rane.
In addition to this Pranay will assume responsibility for the Youth Football India (YFI) and Delhi Youth Leagues in the city.
Pranay, 22, was delighted to take up the role:
“From my 18 months experience in the UK I have picked up a lot of knowledge on how we can replicate and improve our operation here in India.
“The appetite for football is increasingly at fast rate in India and, as a big football fan myself, I would love to see this increase further. We have a fantastic operation here at YFI already, and it is my aim to improve this further.”
SGI’s Chief Executive Adrian Wright echoed Pranay’s sentiments and added:

Our client within Football, specifically the Premier League, are currently recruiting for a Travel Executive who will be responsible for organising travel for the first team. You must be available to travel with the team to allmatches domestic and overseas.
The post holder is primarily responsible for all first team travel, will manage all aspect of the job including the booking and liaising with hotels, aircraft charter company, coach and car companies and will report directly to the Travel Manager and dotted line to the First Team Operations Manager. The Indian Super League, widely regarded as one of the fastest growing leagues in world football, boasts the fifth highest average attendance and now SGI have acquired the services of five top flight players, providing them with on and off field representation whilst aiding them in their all-round career development.
Indian under-23 internationals Jayesh Rane and Rahul Bheke, Ex- Afghanistan captain Zohib Islam Amiri, ‘India’s David Beckham’ Steven Dias, and Rohit Mirza join SGI’s stable with the group of players now awaiting news of their next destinations for the upcoming campaign.
Rane, 24, played a valuable part in Aizawl FC’s fairy-tale triumph of I-League. Beginning his career at Mumbai FC before being promoted to the senior team and spent five years with the local club. The Mumbai boy also had a spell with Chennaiyin FC in the Indian Super League (ISL), proving to be a key player in team’s title quest.
Meanwhile Bheke, 26, has plyed his trade for the past two seasons for Kerala Blasters and FC Pune City in India’s top league, making the most appearances of any Indian player in the league last season.
Amiri, 27, has played a for a host of Indian clubs and worn the FC Goa colours in the ISL’s inaugural season. With 42 national team caps to his name, he also led the national team to glory at the 2013 SAFF Championships.
Rane, who was delighted to be joining the SGI family, said, “I am extremely happy to sign with Sporting Group International. Adrian and Karan have a long-term plan for me, which I am confident of achieving with them. I look forward to working with SGI.”

Shanghai SIPG plays in the Chinese Super League and finished the season in third place and will now feature in the AFC Champions League. They have recently appointed former Chelsea Head Coach Andres Villa Boas are also rumoured to be signing Oscar for £60 million from Chelsea.

The new ownership sees SGI acquiring a 100% share with the deal being completed with Adrian Wright, CEO of SGI making the 8,400 miles round trip to Delhi to meet with the team at their new Indian offices to sign the contract.

The average age of the players at Youth Football International is 12 and there are over 80 teams in the League.
Youth Football International runs its academy like a typical European football club, focusing on the children and their development and offering a safe and fun environment for them to enjoy playing football.

An under nineteen Chinese Super League Team will be making the trip to the UK over the festive period this year to play a number of professional football club academy teams in Birmingham, The Black Country and London. The forty strong party will enjoy the opportunity to see how the UK clubs prepare players in their academies and will also provide the first notable link with China and the recently acquired West Midlands football clubs. Sporting Group International will be exclusively managing the visit and we will be working alongside a selected number of partners to ensure that their visit is memorable and it will receive extensive media coverage in both the UK & China.
